General & Account Management
How do Google, Microsoft, and Apple authentication work with my workspace?
These single sign-on (SSO) options allow you to securely log in to your workspace using your existing accounts, eliminating the need for a separate password.
Can I use the software offline?
No, Enso is entirely web-based and requires an active internet connection. For the best experience, we highly recommend using a desktop browser.
If I delete a plan, can I recover it?
No, deleted plans cannot be recovered.
Getting Started & Library Setup
What are the first steps to working with Enso?
To get started, you need to add an exam, create a subject, and "ingest" a book's table of contents (TOC).
After adding an Exam, Book, and Subject, what is the next step?
The next step is to add your study resources.
What is the function of the "+ Add Resources" option on the "All Subjects" card?
It allows you to input all the specific resources you will need for your exam.
What is the overall function of the "Add Resources" option?
The "Add Resources" feature is what feeds and builds your study plan.
Importing & Extracting Books
Which document formats are supported?
We currently support PDF and EPUB files.
Is there a file size limit?
Yes, the standard limit is 100 MB. For larger files, you will need to use the Deep Scan feature.
How does Deep Scan work?
Deep Scan is designed to process PDFs larger than 100 MB. It takes a few minutes to complete, consumes more AI credits, and maps out the book's structure down to the topic level.
When should I use Deep Scan?
You should use it when you need to study at the topic level but the regular extraction failed to catch those specific topics.
How does the "Upload PDF" option work?
You upload your PDF, and our AI automatically extracts the chapters and/or topics, including their numbers, titles, and corresponding pages.
Do I need to upload the entire book just to get the Table of Contents (TOC)?
No, you can either upload the full PDF book or just a smaller PDF containing only the table of contents and the ISBN.
How does "Scan Barcode" work?
You can scan a book's barcode using your mobile or desktop camera. Enso identifies the ISBN and pulls the book's metadata from the ISBNdb database. Note: This extraction mode does not capture the TOC, meaning it will not pull chapter and topic numbers, titles, or page numbers.
How does the "Bank of TOC" work?
The Bank of TOC is a repository of pre-extracted tables of contents. You can instantly generate a study roadmap by adding these pre-mapped, structurally accurate textbooks directly to your workspace, completely bypassing the extraction process.
What if I cannot find my book in the "Bank of TOC"?
Inside the Bank of TOC filters, you can click "Couldn't find your book?" and input your book's ISBN. Over time, Enso may make the most highly requested books' tables of contents available.
Why doesn't the "Open PDF Reader" link appear for all books?
This link is hidden if the book's "Local Path" field is empty. For the hyperlink to appear and open the PDF to the correct page, the "Local Path" field must be filled out.
Study Plan Creation & Management
How do I know I'm ready to create a study plan?
You must register at least one exam, one subject, and one book activity (Reading, Quiz, Video, or Live Class) before generating a plan.
How can I merge two plans?
Go to Study Tools > Plan Manager (icon) > select the plans you wish to combine > click "Merge Selected."
What does "Look Ahead UOM" mean?
UOM stands for "Unit of Measure," which determines your plan's time horizon. For example, if you set the "Look Ahead Qty" to 2 and the "Look Ahead UOM" to "Week(s)", your plan will span 2 weeks, starting from your chosen "Start Date & Time".
Why is there a "Time Slot Table" field?
The Time Slot Table tells Enso exactly when you have free time to study. You are not required to select one; if left blank, Enso will automatically apply a standard time slot schedule.
Why is there a "Processing Mode" field?
Study plans should adapt to your current phase of preparation. You might be at the beginning and need to cover the syllabus, or you may be days away from the exam and need to heavily prioritize quizzes and revisions. The Processing Mode lets you match your plan to your specific phase.
How do the different Processing Modes work?
- Smart Auto: Builds a balanced plan using a baseline ratio: 75% new topics, 10% practice, and 15% review.
- Enso AI Optimizer: Analyzes your past performance, study speed, and ROI to dynamically assign high-yield topics. This tool requires sufficient historical data to run its statistical calculations.
- Guided Setup: You manually set the strategy (the ratio of new topics to review), and Enso selects the materials. If you aren't sure of the ideal ratio, you can select from three "Study Phase Presets" (Early, Middle, or Final phase).
- Total Control: Build your plan entirely from scratch by hand-picking chapters, quizzes, and review activities.
What do the stats columns SYL, REV, LREV, and EXE stand for?
SYL = Syllabus Coverage, REV = Review, LREV = Light Review, and EXE = Exercise.
Learning Methodology & Tools
What is a Mnemonic?
A mnemonic is a cognitive study tool that converts complex, abstract, or difficult-to-remember information into a format that the brain can easily store and recall. It links new data to familiar structures—like phonetic patterns, visual imagery, or spatial awareness. While Syllabus Coverage builds understanding, mnemonics make the material "sticky" before you move into active revision.

How can I make a mnemonic?
Navigate to Study Tools > Mnemonics (icon) > Add Mnemonic (top left corner).
How can I see the mnemonics I've made?
Go to Study Tools > Mnemonics (icon) to view your library.
What do "Mnemonic Reading" and "Mnemonic Making" mean?
"Mnemonic Reading" lists all your generated mnemonics so you can select the ones you want and create a study log. "Mnemonic Making" is Enso's dedicated tool for creating them using popular mnemonic techniques.
What is "Spaced Repetition" in Flashcards, Mnemonic Reading, and Target Reviews?
It is a memory technique that strategically spaces out your review sessions, showing you harder concepts more frequently to improve retention. The standard schedule targets Days 0, 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, 60, and so on.
What types of flashcards can I import?
We currently only support importing .apkg files.
Which flashcard buttons are considered a correct answer?
"Hard", "Good", and "Easy". "Again" is the only button considered a wrong answer.
What is the difference between the Hard, Good, and Easy flashcard buttons?
Based on the modified SuperMemo-2 (SM-2) algorithm, each choice adjusts how soon the question will be shown to you again. For example, a card marked "Hard" will be repeated sooner than one marked "Easy".
What are a "Light Review" and a "Wrap-up Study"?
A Light Review is a focused, student-driven period designed to synthesize key topics, typically done at the end of a study day. The Wrap-up Study is the dedicated time block at the end of your day reserved for those Light Review topics. You must set a start time for your Wrap-up Study so Enso knows when to schedule them (Light Reviews will only appear after that designated "Start Time").
What does the "Debrief" box mean under Quizzes and Mocks?
A Debrief block will automatically follow the exercise, prompting you to check your answers, analyze your mistakes, and reinforce what you've learned.
What does "Target Review" mean?
This involves testing yourself to find knowledge gaps, and then focusing your study time exclusively on the topics you got wrong.
Resolution Desk & Analytics Tracking
Will Statistic reports be accurate on my very first day?
No. The statistics engine requires a minimum mass of data before it can provide useful, accurate insights.
Why should I fill out the "Mark as Complete" form on the Dashboard?
It is vital for statistical accuracy. If you do not log how long you spent on each task, your Study Tools reports will be incorrect, and the Enso AI Optimizer processing mode will not function properly.
Why is it important to track my page or time progress?
This feeds your personal statistics with accurate data regarding your reading time and speed.
Why is it important to use the quiz answer sheet to log answers and keys?
Logging your correct and incorrect answers feeds the system's statistics with your actual grades.
What is an "Error Log"?
On a quiz answer sheet, every question features a comment field and a dropdown menu to flag an error type. The Error Log compiles all the questions you got wrong, complete with your comments and error classifications.
What is a "Question Log"?
It is a consolidated list of all the questions you have raised while studying.
How can a Question be raised for the Resolution Desk?
Questions can be raised in two ways:
- Via Flashcard/Note: If you're reading a topic you don't understand, open the editor, type your question, and click the "Raise Question" button.
- Via Quiz Answer Sheet: When reviewing a question you got wrong, open the question's "Details," check the "Convert to Question" box, and save the sheet.
What are the prerequisites to use the Resolution Desk?
You must have logged questions (via flashcards or quizzes) and have at least one registered teacher who has accepted your invite.
How do I register a Teacher for the Resolution Desk?
Go to Settings > Notification > scroll down to "Support Network" > enter the teacher's email address under "Invite a Teacher" > click "Send Invite".
How does the Resolution Desk work?
It displays a list of all your registered questions. Select the questions you need help with, click "Send to Teacher" via the hamburger menu (top left), choose the teacher, select or write an intro message, and click "Send Message." An email is dispatched to the teacher, and the question is temporarily locked on your end. Once the teacher replies, the answered question will update in your list.
Does the teacher have to sign in to Enso?
Yes, the invited teacher must sign in using a dedicated teacher's profile.
Does the teacher get full access to my account?
No. Teachers use a dedicated portal and only have access to the specific questions you assign to them.
